Today we moved up north a bit up to Deception Pass. We stopped and stayed at North Whidbey RV park. We then went up to the bridge and bought tickets for a boat tour of Deception Pass. We traveled down to the boat dock and mom and dad asked the captain if Annie could come aboard the next tour. He replied in the affirmative. We ate lunch in the next hour we had before he tour came back. We then boarded the next tour @ 2:00. Since Annie could go we all got to go on the tour. We got to see all of Deception Pass and it was a fun experience. After that we headed up to Anacortes and walked the town for a bit. We saw a huge ship being built on a dry dock and marveled at its size. After walking and having some cheesecake we headed back to the bus and went back o the campsite. We ate dinner, went and found a geocache and finished Jurassic Park III.
Hi Guys!
ReplyDeleteI am loving reading this so much!!! Thanks so much for posting.
I am so glad Annie got to go on the tour too! That was so cool.
Wasn't Anacortes nice? Our friends Terry and Lori live there. We should have hooked you up with them. They are really nice people and miss California a lot. I bet they would have love meeting you all.
I also decided to follow your lead from New Zealand and print the blog and include it in my notes to Luella. I bet she will get a kick out of reading it. Phil finally showed me how to print the page today after I tried to copy it and put it into different programs. He is so smart and made it so much easier!
Hope you have a great day and lots more fun!!!
Love,
Ant DDDDDDDD
Dearest DD,
ReplyDeleteWe made it across the border yesterday. Whew! We headed to Vancouver and then further up north. The vehicle and foot traffic in Vancouver was UNBELIEVABLE!!! It has changed so very much since our trip in 1987. At least the parts we remembered. Hard to believe it is the same place! Ben will fill you in on the details of last night's adventure. After a bit of unease, we decided to head south again. We are now in Langley (must be a good luck name :)
and having a very nice time. We found a family
campground right next to a quaint old town with
shopping, coffee :), art shops and more. The stores were closed for the evening when we strolled the streets earlier. It was nice to wander on uncrowded sidewalks. We will stay here two more days and "rest". Poor Brian has had his nerves tested with the Vancouver traffic. It should be easy sailing from here on out (til we head thru Seattle again).
There are lots of families here at the campground. We are right next to a group of four different sites all friends and family. For as many of them as there are (probably about 20), they are pretty quiet. We just hear the chitter chatter of happy young voices, talking and laughing. Then about every 10 minutes we hear "NOAH"! Apparently he's the escapee and loves to disappear. My guess is he's about 3 years old. So far, one search and
rescue mission has been gathered looking for him :) I laugh in a sweet way, remembering those exhausting wonderful years with b & b.
Anyways...my point being...how I wish it were all of us, gathered together, camping, eating, laughing.... I was just thinking about our Sly Park family camping trip as the kids were about the same age as these kids. Good times! Tired times! Happy times!
Hope you are doing well...xoxoxo. Hope you are feeling good....xooxoxxo
I'd write from our regular email but I'm avoiding it. Too much temptation. This is just the right amount of getaway time. You know how I am.
I love you! Take good care of you. Love to Phil. And if Robin has already headed for Wisconsin and you hear from her, please let her
know I'm thinking of her. (Can't remember exactly when she was going). Off I go...B
So..I will sign off for now. The kids are burning marshmellows, cherries and I believe part of a chocolate covered donut (that would be Brooke). They are little pyros in the making. Dad is chapperoning so I haven't heard any screams from burnt fingers.
Dear B,
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear from you personally. What fun times! I do remember they pyro phase. Our kids loved candles and would drip one onto another for hours at Sea Ranch. Good times. Think of it this way, at least they are "cooking" :-)
I am so happy you are having this good time and wish we were camping right next door also. Then the call would be "NO! Nome!" Maybe someday.....
All is good here. We are hunkering down for the next heat wave. I am trying to get out earlier in the day for my walk. I may have to get up before sunrise tomorrow. It was very hot when I got home at 8AM this morning. Today Phil and I unloaded a nice fresh load of fresh compost from our bin and top dressed our flower bed. We have such beautiful juicy worms, grown from all of our veggie scraps. Such bliss. The sad news is the cucumbers that we planted appear to be some kind of hard squash. Still waiting on the tomatoes. I've harvested ONE sweet 100 cherry tomato ( I didn't share it with Phil) and many eggplant but that is it.
Did I tell you both Phil and I received Jury duty summons? Well, Phil was thanked for his service yesterday without having to go in. I call tonight after 5pm and have my fingers crossed.
OH! and I heard from Robin today. She is having a wonderful time. Madison is beautiful. They are getting around on bikes. Veggie food is everywhere and delicious. She is learning lots. It was a brief but enthusiastic conversation. We plan to take Phil to see Harry Potter some time this coming week. A poor substitute for his sweetie but it is the least we can do.
I will look Langley up on the map to see where you are. Travel safe. Avoid crowds so Brian will stay sane. I miss you terribly. Love you even more. Hugs all around.
Keep avoiding the email. This is VACATION!!!
Love,
DD
