We started our day with breakfast and shortly after that we went on a Beach trail that started about 100ft from our campsite. We enjoyed the walk down and dropped about 200ft in elevation. We walked the beach and looked at some houses. The beach was quite rocky and we found a few jellyfish. The way back was long and the stairs, well, weren't so nice on the way back up. I dropped my sunglasses and later found them on the hike. When we got back to our campsite it was so nice to sit down. We ate lunch there and had sandwiches. We then headed out to Langley and on the way there found a thrift store called community thrift. The place was a bit funky, but cool. Brooke bought a picture frame in the shape of a heart and when she opened it she was surprised to find it loaded with bug carcases. We then spent some time looking for a few geocaches in Langley. We weren't successful on the first but the second led us to a forest and a hike. We found it and it was next to a HUGE boulder. It was about 50x50x50ft. We then headed back to Langley and from there out to a Valero where they didn't have propane and didn't have 6 packs of soda. Since we were disappointed and were low on propane for cooking dinner we found a food store. We got some soda, propane, and SMORES! We headed back to South Whidbey island state park and pulled in our campsite. We cooked dinner and made smores! Brookes method of cooking the marshmallow was to just stick the marshmallow in the flame, let it burn and then blow it out and repeat. Annie then went in our tent and fell asleep. She was in such a deep sleep she didn't want to move or come inside to the van. She finally got up and we got her in the van. We are going to move on the island a little tomorrow and up to Oak harbor.
HELLO B's
ReplyDeleteWhidbey is a great place. We enjoyed Oak Harbor and Coupeville, great water views everywhere. Forty Ebey State Park has some nice hiking trails with great views of Puget Sound. If you go north to Anacortes you can get on the auto ferry that will give you a great ride on Puget Sound and eventually get you to Sidney, BC, and from there, a short drive to Victoria, one of our favorite places to visit. We are thinking of you
Great Photos! You all look so happy and relaxed. Especially Annie. I'm glad the stress of the last few months has melted away.
